To The Top! - Blackpool Tower

Guess what? We had an impromptu trip to Blackpool! As in OTBT style, we booked the whole family on an all-inclusive bargain weekend! This trip included a visit to the top the famous "Blackpool Tower". As we approached the tower, the older ones groaned and the younger ones cheered, but to be fair, after the initial hours of queuing, it was a great experience.

A Few Facts and Figures

Blackpool Tower opened in 1894 and was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It stands 518 feet tall and is the 120th tallest tower in the world! How cool is that? It consists of 2,493 tons of steel and 93 tons of cast iron! Wow, that's heavy!

As we entered the glass lift, we did notice the windows needed a good clean but I don't know how practical that is! A bit precarious if you ask me...

When you arrive at the top you are greeted with the "Skywalk". It's a glass floor looking straight down to the road below, which gave some of the older members of the OTBT fam the 'heebyjeebies' but it is weirdly great! The views from the top are awesome and you can look as far as the eye can see in all directions! Luckily, we had the most beautiful, clear day! A really special treat in Blackpool! Hannah and Chloe managed to sneak into the famous "Strictly" ballroom and filmed a couple of the dancers and visitors having afternoon tea!

Other than a 'trip to the top' there are lots of things to do once in the tower including a circus, 4D cinema, dungeon, jungle gyms, cafes and bars.

This two day overnight trip was very last minute and very spontaneous but we had some amazing, family time. Get OTBT, you never know what you might find!
