Hi everyone, welcome back! On Sunday 20th September the whole OTBT family took part in the Alzheimers Society's Memory Walk to help raise money for the fight against dementia!
The walk took place on the amazing Humber Bridge! More than 2,800 people turned up to take part in the walk! That's amazing! There are Memory Walks taking place all over the country and up to walking the Humber Bridge Walk, there were over 15,000 people that had taken part in a memory walk! How cool is that!
Why This Charity Is So Important To Us
This charity is very important to each and every member of the OTBT family as we lost our very loved and dear mum, grandma and great-grandma to this terrible disease 6 years ago this week! It's a very cruel illness as it strips a person of their life slowly, bit by bit!
Dementia is not just forgetting the odd thing now and again, it's far more than you could ever imagine. It's fear, confusion, paranoia, highs, lows and everything in-between until you can no longer recognise your own family and friends or function in society. Then eventually forgetting how to eat, drink and finally give in to this horrendous illness.
We at OTBT know all this first hand as we have been through it all, so we try as a family to raise money for the Alzheimers Society whenever we get an opportunity. The least we can do is all take part in the annual 'Memory Walk' and help this awesome charity help fight dementia so other families do not have to suffer the turmoil and anguish we and many others have gone through!
On a lighter note...
The day was fab and fun and brought everyone together in a positive way. We had such a good day, dancing, Zumba and walking to kick dementias butt! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, online and offline.
